This 3-day tour to Erg Chigaga, one of Morocco’s most remote and majestic dunes, is a deep dive into the Moroccan Sahara. Along the way, you’ll explore kasbahs, oases, and Berber villages before venturing into the vast, untouched desert for a night under the stars in a traditional camp.
Departure from Marrakech around 7:30 AM.
Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260m).
Visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah.
Stop for lunch in Ouarzazate, optional visit to the Atlas Film Studios or Taourirt Kasbah.
Continue through the Draa Valley to reach Zagora.
Overnight in a guesthouse in Zagora with dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast, drive to M’Hamid, the last village before the desert begins.
Optional short walk around the palm groves or ksars of M’Hamid.
Start your off-road 4×4 journey (about 2 hours) to Erg Chigaga, the wildest and most expansive dunes in Morocco.
Arrive at the desert camp, enjoy mint tea and relax.
Camel ride at sunset.
Dinner and night in a traditional Berber tent under the stars with music around the fire.
Early wake-up to watch the sunrise over the dunes.
Breakfast at the camp.
Depart by 4×4 across the Iriqui Dry Lake and desert plateaus.
Reach Foum Zguid, then continue via Taznakht (famous for Berber rugs).
Lunch on the way.
Arrive in Marrakech around 6:30–7:30 PM.
